    GarrettCom’s recent acquisition by Belden is driving acceleration on our R&D investments and having a major impact on our growth opportunities. We are expanding our portfolio of hardened networking products and are seeking to add additional hardware engineering talent. GarrettCom is a leader in providing highly resilient and environmentally tough networking products, from switches and routers, to wireless data access, to cyber security and smart grid appliances.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Take technical ownership of new product designs, subsystems or breakthrough product from specification through design, implementation, test and release.

    • Research alternative hardware solutions, architectures, and high level designs, collaborate with other team members to determine optimal technical solutions.

    • Demonstrate technical leadership in interacting with other hardware/software/test developers to create and execute plans as well as resolve technical problems.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science, MS preferred, 5+ years of hardware design experience with a record of taking products from conception through design, validation, shipment.

    • Solid experience in designing networking hardware products - several of: Ethernet L2/L3 switching, routers, WAN, wireless technologies

    • Solid hands-on technical experience and a strong knack for debugging and problem resolution. Self starting attitude, solid team player, good communication skills.

    • Strong experience with Orcad Capture and driving high-speed layouts

    "Ideal Candidate" Qualifications:

    • Architecture First approach, with an emphasis on getting the design right up front. Uses solid HW design practices. Understands how to design for high reliability.

    • Comfortable with full range of development activities from high level design, component selection, board design, DVT, compliance testing and mfg support.

    • While this is a design engineer position, the ideal candidate will have project lead experience or can demonstrate strong leadership skills and project ownership.

    • Comfortable working with teams across multiple geographies. Good communicator.
